Tattoo Art - Top 5 Reasons Why People Get Tattoos!

Tattoo Art - Top 5 Reasons Why People Get Tattoos!

By Micheal Tomalex

People with tattoo often exude a certain persona which comes off as self confidence, a predisposition to do things out of the ordinary and not be limited to the mundane and the usual. Naturally, some people are enticed by it and are taking steps to have themselves a tattoo while others are just content to admire from a distance. Still, others cringe at the thought of body markings. Others even think of body markings as the same with body piercing.

If you are among those who like the idea of having tattoo but needs a little bit of pushing, here are ten good reasons why you should.

  1. Tattoos are good for self-expression. Just as clothes are used to make a statement about one's self, tattoos can also be used as a statement about the things you believe in, love, admires and even aspires to. Thus, you will find that people have tattoos about certain causes, names of people, and art. Having those markings on their body somehow gives somebody a window on that person's soul.
  2. Tattoos are symbols of luck. For those who grew up believing in superstition or even just exposed to superstition, a particular tattoo design will ward off evil and enhance good fortune. Thus, it is normal to see the goddess fortuna etched in a believers arm to attract good fortune.
  3. Tattoos are used to mark important milestones. Happy occasions such as weddings and childbirth are good reasons to have a tattoo. Events which are life altering like the date of an accident which could have left someone dead but instead come out of it alive makes people appreciative of a second lease at life and so wearing a tattoo to remind that person of that particular moment is a good reason for a tattoo.
  4. Tattoos are used as expression of commitment. In a world of fast food and instant gratification, it is always good to have a certain kind of remembrance for the things that one believes to be lasting like love, friendship and faith. Thus, you will find some people who get a tattoo about Buddhist principles and about the person they love.
  5. Tattoos are used to pay homage. By homage, we mean tribute to somebody of some things that we believe or admire, especially so if and when they do no longer exist as in the case of living beings like people and pets.
